Van Leichter has been advising global real estate and financial services firms in the US, Europe and Asia for more than eighteen years. He has completed Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Global Product Development and Distribution Management roles for leading real estate, asset management, private equity, hedge funds and investment banks.
Before forming Leichter Ellison Advisors, Van was a Managing Director at Ferguson Partners in Chicago and Tokyo, responsible for expanding the firm’s global real estate, private equity, investment banking and investment management businesses.
Van was previously a Partner with Heidrick & Struggles in Tokyo, responsible for leading the Japanese Real Estate, Asset Management, Private Equity, and Investment Banking practice groups. He also served as the Head of the Asian Real Estate Practice, overseeing client coverage teams in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Previously based in New York, Van focused on global markets and principal investments. His global markets practice specialized in fixed income and equity derivative sales, trading, structuring, and electronic market making. Van also completed numerous principal investment and proprietary trading mandates focused on distressed corporate and real estate investments in the US and Japan.
Van holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he also completed graduate work in International Relations and International Political Economics. FINRA Series 82.
